Blogging in the winter is rough. I’ve already talked about the struggles of creating stylish looks, but as a blogger it’s even more difficult to get a winter style looks captured. Either it’s the weather, you lose the light, or if you’re in Chicago the wind has a mind of it’s own. Thankfully, I found Speed Blogging through some other stylish Chicago ladies. Not only was an answer to shooting outfit looks despite the elements — it was also a great way to network with other bloggers and photographers. This cozy winter style was shot by the wonderful Michelle Cox at the new to me Catalyst Ranch.

Speaking of cozy style, I’ve been living in long, drapey piece lately. To some of you that might sound par for the course, but more than usual I’m gravitating towards these styles. And this look is no different. This navy Ann Taylor blouse will be a fantastic transitional piece — but considering it snowed today — a cardigan and functional boots were a necessity. This cardigan is from last season, but you find similar styles here and here.

I started to shy away from navy since I usually wear black denim, but I think I’m falling back in love with blue denim. The lighter wash and frayed hem of these high waist jeans caught my eye and were unlike anything currently in my closet. If you’re a sucker for Madewell denim like me, I highly recommend.
