Adding a vest to an outfit is pretty much my go to move. Seeing as it’s one of my favorite closet staples, I’ve amassed quite the collection over the years. As we head into fall I wanted to put together a post showing a few different ways to style a vest.
One of the first in my vest collection — the army green vest. This piece is an absolute closet work horse. I could have added a picture with this number with jeans, dresses, or paired with neutrals. But one of my favorite combos is a graphic tee and skirt. The skirt is actually a dress but I added the graphic tee and adding the vest helped create the illusion. Perfect outfit for an end of summer day out with your girlfriends.
The fur vest. Honestly, it took me a while to find the right fur vest. And frankly an all-fur vest just doesn’t work well for me, but this vest with a fur accent is one of my all-time favorites. Plus it’s versatile so when you want to ditch the fur (see below) you can. I love how the fur adds a bit of glam to an outfit.
Here’s another take on the fur vest that’s a bit more date night appropriate. I actually wore this look to a holiday part and Breeder’s Cup when it was at Keeneland. The fur definitely elevates a neutral look.
The trench vest. Just call me smitten. This vest has sort of replaced my other army green vest as my go piece. I love the length and tie waist detail. It’s perfect for work or the weekend. You can absolutely dress it up or down.
The long vest. Truth be told I hate coats (probably a reason I love vests), so this long black vest is one of my go-to’s in the fall before needing to add a full coat. Here I’m wearing it over a top and cardigan for warmth. I’m so looking forward to some cooler Chicago temps so I can break this one out again soon.
The Cargo Vest. Here’s a look at the camel vest without the fur. Much more casual, but still super fun. Even though it’s a neutral, the color feels a bit unexpected.
